Meet Lindsay

Lindsay Church is a veteran, nonprofit executive, LGBTQ+ leader, and parent raising their family in Berwyn, Illinois. The child of a single mother of two who was a veteran herself, Lindsay saw how hard their mother worked to keep food on the table and a roof over their head.

Joining the Navy after 9/11 to serve their country and escape poverty, Lindsay was a Persian-Farsi linguist and a graduate of the Defense Language Institute. After medically retiring from the Navy, they returned to school and earned degrees from the University of Washington in Islamic studies and international relations with a focus on combating violent extremism.

Service has shaped Lindsay’s family for generations and inspired them to go on to dedicate their post-military career building intersectional movements, providing numerous testimonies to Congress, advising federal agencies, and fighting for reforms that strengthen the systems people rely on.

Lindsay is running for Congress because they believe every person deserves dignity, safety, and a real choice in shaping our future. They believe democracy works best when people are heard, leadership is accountable, and decisions are made with, not for, the communities they affect.

Veterans swear an oath to the Constitution, not to politics or political parties. That’s why Lindsay is running as an Independent, to focus on protecting our freedoms from the Trump agenda that sends masked agents to terrorize our neighbors. Lindsay will focus on reducing poverty and bringing down the cost of everyday life such as groceries, utilities, and school supplies that grow more unaffordable by the day. And they’ll do more to invest in small businesses and build vibrant communities with safe, affordable housing.

Lindsay has a long history of fighting for the freedom for people to make decisions about their own bodies and futures, free from political interference, and will continue that fight if elected. In the wake of the fall of Roe v. Wade, Lindsay’s wife suffered a devastating pregnancy loss, so they know how important accessible, affordable, timely, and comprehensive healthcare is. They’ll ensure families can afford to bring their kids in for a cold and require insurance companies to cover life-saving screenings and vaccines.

Lindsay’s service, national security experience, and history of standing up against violent extremism exemplifies the type of leader we need in Congress at this moment. They’re running as an Independent because political backroom deals have no place in choosing our representatives.

This campaign is about whether or not we have a choice in deciding who represents us. Lindsay wore the uniform and fought to protect our rights, and now they are ready to take this fight to Congress, to stand up to the corrupt and powerful and take on anyone who seeks to strip our communities of our rights, safety, and dignity.
